Trip to Chicago

Well, my mom and I took both boys on their first road trip. We went just north of Chicago for my cousin Jodi's wedding. The wedding was the night we got there. It was a lot of fun. I was completely exhausted by the end of the night! The next day we went to a local working farm so Cameron could pet some animals and run around. Then we went to see my mom's cousins on her dad's side of the family. The next day we went on a trip through Elgin. This is where my mom was born and lived until high school. She and my uncle reminisced about all the old homes they lived in and places they ate and played. We stopped at many different places. This was a long day of driving and both boys did amazingly wonderful! Even in good moods (until Cam's nighttime breakdown). The last day we went to Wisconsin, stopped in a couple cheese factories to pick up some cheese and then went to see my mom's cousins on her mothers side of the family. They have a lake house and it was just a perfect little vacation home. I could live there. Cameron took a long nap that day, so had a little more downtime. The trip home really went fine too. So, now I know we can make a road trip, however, I don't think I'd go longer than what we did. It's hard stopping all the time for feeding Trevor and potty breaks and it's a long time for kids this age. We are home for a week and then we are going on a trip to Florida with Zach's parents. So, I'm going to spend the day today doing laundry and getting things unpacked before I have to repack for next week.

Trevor has gotten so much stronger this last week. He is now sitting by himself very well. He catches himself most of the time now. He is also scooting well. He gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth and then jumps forward (like a frog). If he could just figure out how to get his arms moving, he'd be crawling. I think it will be soon!!

Morning at the Zoo

School is finally out!! Tomorrow I will be home with the boys.....so there will probably be more posts the next few weeks. However, I leave Wednesday to go to Nashville for a conference for work. I will be there through Friday evening. Then, Saturday morning, Cameron, Trevor, my mom, and I leave for Chicago to see my cousin Jodi get married. I'm pretty nervous about the car ride. We'll see how it goes. Trevor really doesn't like the car much or being in one position and Cam has never been longer than 2 hours. Cameron has little accidents now since his potty training, but he doesn't like to go in public bathrooms for some reason. I think we may have to bring the small potty with us!

Trevor is getting around quickly now! He isn't crawling, but he pushes up on his arms and scoots very well. He sees toys he wants and goes!! He also went on a swing for the first time yesterday at the park. He loved it.

This morning we met Heather, Curtis, and Wynton at the Louisville Zoo. Cameron asks at least three times a week to go to the zoo and see the animals. We like to go right when it opens so we can eat lunch there and then be home by nap time. He and Wynton ran around the whole time. Cameron was exhausted by the end of the day. I tried to take a pic of him and Trevor in matching outfits, but no smile from Cam...he was pooped! He slept about 3 hours for his nap! Trevor went on a swing again today and laughed the whole time. It was so cute!!

Another packed in weekend for the Herzogs. These last weeks have gone by so fast and we've been so busy. We tried putting Trevor on regular formula again since they said kids can usually tolerate milk products by 6 months, but he got really sick and we had to put him back on soy. Now he's doing fine and even spitting up a little less now that we changed his reflux med as well. Both boys have a runny nose and have had it for about a week now. Hopefully that will get better this week! My dad came into town for the weekend, so we went to dinner Friday night with them. Then, Saturday, Zach and the kids and I went to see his family in Fort Thomas. We had a really good time. There were some of Zach's Aunts and an Uncle there who we haven't seen for quite a while. There were lots of people to chat with and it was a lot of fun. Zach's mom got us a new camera that takes better pictures than the one we have, so we were so excited about that!! Cameron got some flag toothpicks and loved them for some reason. He got to take them home and he held them the entire drive, even through his nap.
Sunday my parents came over to hang out with us and the boys. Cameron had a lot of mood swings today, but we still had a pretty good day. We filled up our little pool and Cam played for a little while. I put Trevor in and he did not like it. He's never had any problems with baths, so I think the water being so cold was a shocker to him. Plus, I didn't have a suit on, so I couldn't sit in there with him. He had a death grip on my shirt and did not want to stay in there. He was okay with me just letting him stand, but he held his grip to my shirt until we got out and then took a good nap after getting out. So, it took a lot out of him.

Our big event over the last two weeks is that Cameron is potty training. Actually, he wears underwear all day except to sleep at night and he wears a pull-up at nap (just in case). We left him in underwear on our long drives and going out places and he's done fine. He's actually to the point now where he comes and tells us he has to go. Today....NO accidents!! He's even using the big toilet most of the time. Yeah!!! Only diapers at night and on our way to no more for him at all. So exciting!!! I never thought I'd see the day!!

Great Strides 2009

Saturday was the Great Strides walk for CF. Our team has raised right at about $9000. We didn't quite reach our goal this year, but still
raised a lot for this VERY important cause! I'm hoping to still fund raise and get up to $10000 at least for this year. So, if you still haven't heard from a friend of family member, be sure to tell them it's not too late!! We were very worried about rain this year. We got lucky and it didn't rain during the walk. We had some pizza after and then the rain started, so the place pretty much cleared out. We stayed and let Wynton and Cameron play in the rain for a little bit and then headed home. Thanks to all that came out and walked with us and also to those who donated this year! We really appreciate it!
Sunday we went to the zoo in the morning, one of Cameron's favorite places. That morning we woke up to find that our bunny, Emmy, was not in her cage. We looked everywhere and couldn't find her. We decided we'd come home and start asking neighbors, but when we pulled in the driveway, she was sitting in our neighbors front yard. Hurray! We were so happy! There was a hole in her cage we had to fix, but she should be safe now! We did some yard work Sunday afternoon and the weekend was over. They just fly by too fast. I will upload some zoo pics later.

Mother's Day

This has been a really nice weekend. Saturday morning my mom came over to help with our yard sale. We didn't do great, but got rid of some stuff. We took the rest to good will. That afternoon we went to Huber's with the kids. First we went to the kids park. Cameron got to go down this huge slide. He wanted to go by himself, but he did whole turns in it and ended up on his belly and got scared. Zach took him on this bouncy thing too, but he was too scared for that as well. So, we walked around and fed the animals, which he just loves!! There was a playground that was perfect for him and he played on that quite a bit too. Trevor was just as good as could be in the stroller. Then we went to Huber's Winery and sampled their new wine. I got a few bottles since we are out here at home. Then we went to the restaurant. You just cannot beat their fried chicken, corn, mashed potatoes and biscuits!! Nothing compares! The kids were good and it was much more successful than last year (when we had to leave before the food came).
Today my mom is coming over and I am going to take her out to get a pedicure and some lunch. Then I'll spend the afternoon with my boys. We had to go to Huber's yesterday because they were all booked up on Mother's Day. It's been a nice weekend. Busy as usual! Next weekend is Great Strides. We're hoping for good weather!
I put a couple other photos on here. During the week this week Cameron helped me put flowers in my pots. He loved it and didn't want to stop! It was fun, he did a good job listening and really enjoyed himself. We were also lucky enough to get a double stroller from a parent in my class. It's a great size, folds up small and will be very useful for the zoo and travel!

Oaks

We had an extremely busy week. I had something every evening this week. Then, Friday was Oaks day at the track. I've never been to Oaks or Derby. We were lucky enough for Zach's mom to come to watch the kids so we could have the day together. Zach and I haven't been out together since...I don't even know when. We need to do it more often! We had a lot of fun! We decided we want to try to go to Oaks every year if we can. We had grandstand tickets, although they were not that good, but we think we are more of infield people. We liked walking around and watching everyone! We got to sneak into the Infield Club, which was where we wanted to get tickets, so we saw the winners of the last two "Top Chef" making up some food. It was a really fun day. The time flew by!

Then, Saturday, we went to one of our friends houses for Derby. We all have babies, it is so funny! There were 3 toddlers and 3 babies, and one pregnant mommy. We can only imagine how out get-togethers will be in a few years! It's so nice to get together with everyone though!

We have no plans today. I need to do my potted plants, but I'm exhausted, so I think we will just relax and spend time with the boys today. Trevor is feeling much better and Cam's doing fine.

Noah's Ark

We spent the day Saturday making a hutch for our new bunny rabbit. Then, we went to Noah's Ark with the Rose family and fed animals. Wynton and Cameron are so cute and excited about everything. We went over to their house for dinner and had a good time letting the boys play together and catching up. We ended up leaving later than we expected. It was already Cam's bedtime and we still had to pick up the bunny. By the time we got home it was almost 9 and Zach still had to make the door to the hutch. The bunny was so cute when she got in, sniffing around at her new home. We need to redo the roof though, so that is Zach's project today. Cameron is so excited about her and just loves petting her. He says she is "so cute." It's funny! I'll try to get some pics today and post.

Easter

We had a really nice Easter. We didn't go anywhere, just spent the day together. We hid eggs in the backyard for Cameron. We had so many because I brought home the extra from work. I thought he'd get sick of hunting and we'd have to find them, but he was loving every minute of it asking where more eggs where. He wanted to play with his eggs all day and was expecting to find more stuff in them each time he opened them up. It was pretty fun! Trevor slept through the hunt, but woke up after Cam opened his eggs. So, we let Trevor hold them. He put them in his mouth (of course).

Both boys are healthy again, which I am so thankful for! Spring is hard and especially with this weather changing back and forth so much! Trevor is spitting up way more than he had been. We called about his medicine and he's getting the max dose. He had spit up so much that papa had to take a shower and rinse off today and Trevor went through a couple outfits. I wish we could do something. It's hard when we take him somewhere or are trying to get out the door and he makes a mess all over!

Erin and Geof are in Europe for 6 weeks. They have a travel blog if anyone does not have it that reads this....
There is lots of good pictures of the places they have been. We're so jealous, it looks like so much fun!

Trevor Rolls Over

Trevor started rolling over from his back to his tummy yesterday. Most of the time, he won't stay on his back longer than 5 seconds before he's on his belly. Then, he looks like he's flying because he puts his arms behind him and lifts his legs up. He's gotten himself confused about how to get from his belly to back now (which he has been doing for a month or so). Anyway, he's quick...no more leaving him on the couch while we grab a diaper or whatever! We went to the cabin today to finish mulching the front of the house and Zach mowed the property. Cameron loves it there! Tomorrow we are going to do an Easter egg hunt for Cameron in the back yard. We still have to make the eggs. I think he will have fun with that though, we'll have to video if we can.

Spring Break

Spring break is over. :( I didn't really have lots of time for the blog like I thought I might. The kids kept me pretty busy. The weather was rainy, but warm most days, so we were able to go on walks and play in the yard. Both boys ended up getting ear infections, Trevor is finishing up his antibiotics the next couple days. Trevor found his feet a couple weeks ago and has a field day eating his right foot. He will sometimes have all 5 toes in his mouth. Funny! Cameron surprises us each day with the things he says. He talks in complete sentences sometimes and it's amazing how much her remembers that we say. He understands so much more and can talk with you so much more. It just amazes me daily! We spend the last weekend landscaping. We went to the cabin and put in some bushes for my parents and then took weeds out of our flower beds and put mulch down. It took all day Sunday for our house and we're still not done. We hope to finish this coming weekend and then things will look nice. I love once all the flowers come out. I'm hoping my Iris' bloom okay this year with the freeze we've been having this week. Well, that's all for now. We're still not getting any sleep with Trevor, he's getting up a ton lately. Hopefully that will get better soon!

Posts Deleted

In an attempt to clear out some of the older posts on this blog, the most recent posts were also deleted. So, about 3 months of posts have been deleted. I decided to put a couple pics from recently, but I will just update once a week as usual. I am on spring break this week, so maybe I will have more time to update than usual and may be able to catch the kids doing some cute things! Too bad the weather is supposed to be rainy all week, that means no outside time. Too bad!! Grandpa Hoeptner is here for a couple days....Cameron likes spending time with him. As soon as he saw him he gave him a hug and wanted to play with him, even though he hasn't seen him since Christmas. He seems to remember everyone better now that he's getting older. Cameron has a runny nose and a little cough, I'm hoping it goes away. He woke up crying several times last night, just screaming and we didn't know why. Hopefully he doesn't get sick. Today at 2 is the Louisville game. Can't wait. Go Cards!!

We had two big first's for the boys this weekend. Trevor's chord fell off, so we were finally able to give him his

first bath. He did calm down eventually and there were many cute pictures, but I just loved this pic of him. He looks like a little frog. He's also getting much stronger. He can hold his head up for a much longer time now. He is eating well and doing pretty well at night. He gets up every 3 hours, so he's up twice at night. He is still throwing up some though, so we may have to get him on the reflex meds. Turns out both the boys inherited my bad reflux! Too bad!!

Cameron went pee pee in the potty for the very first time yesterday!! We were so proud of him. I know this is going to be a long road, but at least he's done it once now.
