Santa Safari

Trevor asked for a Choo-Choo-Train
Cameron asked for Emily, one of the characters of Thomas

We went to the Santa Safari again this year because Cameron thinks that's the only way he can ask for something from Santa and actually get it. We weren't nearly as impressed this year, so I think we will find something new next year. Maybe Zach will have to dress up :)
This year they didn't have many snacks and they closed down a couple of the animal areas before we could get there. However, Trevor really enjoyed himself! He touched a little dragon, a snake, a rabbit, ferret, and saw some different birds as well as a penguin. He loved running from place to place to see the animals. He also loved seeing Santa!! He kept wanting to go see him over and over, only it wasn't his turn. He kept pointing at Frosty and the Penguin that was there. He was a little scared when he was up close with them, but he liked telling us where they were the WHOLE time! It was neat to see the kids enjoying themselves. Cameron wasn't in the best mood. He liked coloring and then telling Santa what he wanted, but he had no interest in anything else this time.

First Stitches

Thought I'd spare you all the picture of the hole before stitches! This is the following morning before I put his cream on it and band aid.

Cameron fell while dancing to a Santa. He hit the corner of an end table at Nana's very hard. He was bleeding all over and when I cleaned it a little, I could see he had a hole in his head. I left Trevor with Nana and Papa offered to come with me so he could hold something on Cameron's head on the ride to the ER. We were there for about 2 hours. He was so scared, but still very brave. He asked if he'd have to have a nose tube or anything stuck in his arms. He was glad he didn't have to do that. He wanted to see what his head looked like because he thought it was his eye, so I showed him. He was such a big boy! He ended up with 3 stitches and will get them out in 5 days.

The next day I threw up at work and was sent home. I had some virus and had a fever through today. I think I'll be able to get to work tomorrow. We had the sad news that another life has been lost to CF. Creed is Zach's age and passed yesterday evening. Too many lives lost to CF this year! We need to find a cure for this awful disease!!! These next couple/few years are going to be the key to getting the control, I just know it!

Thanksgiving

Trevor all tuckered out from playing at Grandma and Grandpa Herzog's house!

Playing in the woods

Our little climber!

Zach and Melinda ran the Thanksgiving 10K in Cinci Thanksgiving morning.

We spent our Thanksgiving at the Herzog's house. It was a really nice weekend. We went up the night before Thanksgiving so that Zach could run in the 10K the next morning. The kids stayed home since it was raining and I went to watch the race. It was really fun and there were like 13,000 people racing! That afternoon, Zach and I went to see a movie while the kids napped. Then we had our dinner with Ian, Sam, and Zach's parents. It was a really nice day. We got up Friday morning and Zach and I went to Bellvue to walk around and look in the shops. We had some coffee and enjoyed some time together, just the two of us. Something we need to make time for more often! We are so thankful for our family!

Run Like Hell

Yesterday we went to the "Run Like Hell" 5K fundraiser for CF. I set up my jewelry and Zach ran pushing the kids in a double stroller. It was pretty cold, but really very good weather. I'm not sure sure what number Zach was coming in, but in the top ten out of over 100 runners. He did awesome, got his best time running a 5K and he was pushing the stroller. He even had to stop to give the kids a blanket. It was our first year at this event and we will probably continue to do it, however, we will raise our big money for the Great Strides walk.
The boys are much better. They are both finishing up their antibiotics, but they have mostly lost their coughs and noses are better. Yeah! I've been sick all week, but am starting to feel better (besides the fact that I wake up all night coughing). Somehow, I'm always sick on me birthday. Tis the season I guess. Yesterday I got a wonderful fruit/nut gift basket from my Aunt and Uncle in California. Yum! I was so surprised and excited, love my California fruit!
Today we will be going to my school's fall festival. I have to work from 11 -1, so Zach and the kids are coming and they will get to do the games and try to get prizes. Should be fun. Then later tonight we will either Trunk-or-treat with church or go to our friends Halloween/House warming party. Our neighbor is also having a party. Very busy time. No plans for my birthday besides spending it with my 3 guys. Then, trick-or-treating and passing out candy that night. Will post pictures if we get some good ones in the next couple days.

The boys about to brush teeth after their bath.
Trevor loves a ride on the mule.

The boys had to get in my bath when they saw the water.

It's been quite a while since I've updated. There's probably too much for me to remember, so I'll just update on the recent things. Both boys have a cold again. It seems like they were only healthy for a week before they were sick again. It's been about two weeks, so they were both put on antibiotics yesterday. Both have pretty nasty coughs. Cameron's CF doctor does not take our insurance right now, so I'm really hoping this antibiotic kicks in and helps clear his chest out so that we don't need to go in.
My mom went back to California. The kids already miss going to the cabin, especially Trevor. Last night he went to bed with his baby photo album with a picture of "mamaw." Mom - you need to get Skype on your computer so Trevor can talk to you, he needs to see you.
I'm on my fall break. I was able to go to the chiropractor yesterday for the first time since school started. My days are so busy now with the extra driving and teaching a new grade. I leave about 45 minutes earlier than I did last year and get home about that much later. Then, I still have plans to do. I'm enjoying the year so far though! So, I have an extended weekend. I spent the day with the boys yesterday and this morning. At nap time, Zach is taking the kids to visit his parents for the night and I am headed out to the cabin to meet with my team from Cedar Grove. I'm excited to hang out with the girls! Then, no plans yet for Sunday and Monday. I may take the kids to the zoo if they are sounding a little better. They've loved just playing at home though and have been content with that.
Trevor is starting to say more words finally. He sings to most songs in the car. Trevor is tugging on my now, he wants lunch, so I'd better go.
This video is so cute. Cameron was singing about what he's doing, just making up a song. It's funny.

Great Grandma Docter and the Herzog Grandkids. I LOVE this picture!
My dad at Wild Turkey at the Bourbon Festival in Bardstown.

This was another event filled weekend. I had lots of plans for the weekend since my dad is in town, so Zach thought it would be a good time to take the kids to visit his family. I was able to hang out with my parents all day Saturday. They treated me to an early Christmas present that I was in need of (thank you!!!!). Then, mom and I went to BJ's for a Steel Magnolia luncheon. The CF moms were glad to finally meet my mom. My dad and I spent the remainder of the afternoon trying to get my wireless printer working. It never worked, we went and got another. I ended up working on the printer until 1:30am. I took a short break to meet my parents and their friends visiting from Oklahoma for dinner. Then, spent 4 hours on the phone talking to a man from India. If you know me well, you know how frustrated I was! I had a migraine on top of it.....however, the printer now works!!! This morning, I got up bright and early to meet my parents and their friends for the Bourbon Festival in Bardstown. We went to the pancake breakfast where they had bourbon butter, syrup, and coffee. I do not like bourbon so I had the plain old stuff, but it smelled like bourbon. Then we went around all of the tents. I found a lady that has an awesome stand for displaying earrings and she is ordering me one. My favorite part was the food since I'm not a bourbon girl. I got fresh kettle corn and some cinnamon sugar almonds. Yum!!!!

The kids had a wonderful time at the Herzog's. Zach went golfing with his brother and dad. The boys went to a fire truck festival. Cameron said Trevor was sleeping and missed all of the trucks, but he and his cousin Sam went inside the trucks. He says it was fun. Great Grandma Docter came over today to see the kids. The picture of her with them is so sweet! Thanks for sending that Linda!!

Beautiful Weekend

Searching in the pumpkin patch while we waited for our tractor to come pick us up.
Another HUGE pumpkin.

Mom and Dad (Grandma and Grandpa)

Mommy with her boys.

Climbing all over the HUGE pumpkins.

Cheese-ball! I love it!

Trevor loved the little goat, so he sat down next to it smiling from ear to ear.

Apple at Hidden Hollow Orchard

Big weekend! My dad is in town for about two weeks. I will not be able to see him as much as I'd like since I have to work on the weekdays, but we were able to spend the day with him today. The only unfortunate part of today was that we could not be in Morehead to cheer on Zach for his triathalon. We left a hidden card in his car though to let him know we were thinking of him and he actually got home today before we even did. Beautiful weather for him this year though!!
So, our plan was to go to Hidden Hollow Orchard and then to Henry's Arc. However, the apple orchard didn't have any apples left because the weather made everything come in early this year. So, we decided we could just go out to Huber's as Dad and I wanted some of their seasonal wine anyway. So, Trevor had a nice nap on the way and when we got there we went into the petting zoo kids area. The kids fed a bunch of the animals. Trevor was not scared this time and loved feeding them! He loved petting them and hugging them (even the cement animals that were decoration). The kids went on the big slides and then we got lost in a huge corn maze. We never did find the end of it! Trevor was starving and pretty fussy, so we went straight to get lunch after the kids area. After lunch we headed over to take a tractor ride to go out and pick some apples. They are huge apples and taste great, we picked green delicious. The kids loved them. We did have a problem with them eating half and then throwing and getting a new one, but that's all part of it. It's a bit early for pumpkins, however, we did get one because it was the most perfectly shaped pumpkin and still on the stem. We also got a bunch of fresh bread and pumpkin muffin loafs as well as some pumpkin ice cream, yummy!
The kids both fell asleep on the way home and continued their naps when they got home. I've spent all day yesterday and now all night trying to fix my printer. We did everything we could think. My dad and I took it back, bought a new one and still can't get it to work. I've given up! Very frustrating. I don't know what we are going to do! Very tired, so I'd better go rest before the big week at work.

Labor Day Weekend

Cameron running around with the Jones kids.
This boy loves mowing the lawn. Probably won't as much when he gets older.

Before the U of L game.

Trevor has been going everywhere with these Mr. Potato Head glasses lately.

Trevor picked up this magazine and read all on his own. Zach was so proud!!
We had a fun filled weekend! Friday evening I was able to go out with the teachers I worked with last year. We saw that Drew Barrymore movie (which was way funnier than I had expected) and got dinner. It was very nice to see them and catch up! Then, Saturday we went over to hang out with a bunch of our friends in Louisville for the UK vs. U of L game. Sadly, U of L lost. :( The kids had a great time playing in the backyard and the weather was perfect for the day!! Sunday we choose to stay at the house and have a little down time with the family. The kids played at the house, we played outside, went on bike rides, the boys all took naps (including daddy) and I did a little school work. Trevor had a little accident, he fell out of his chair and his teeth cut his lip. It bled pretty bad, but a popsicle helped and stopped the bleeding. He has a bruise where it happened. Poor baby! Then Monday we played at the house some more and then went to the bluegrass festival to see Hog Operation play. It was such a nice day, the band was great, the kids could run and play, it was a really nice atmosphere. After the music, we went over to a friends house for some pizza and then got home pretty late. Unfortunately, that made for a rough morning this morning, both boys were really tired and a bit cranky! Hopefully they'll both catch up tonight and be good to go the rest of the week.

Kentucky State Fair

Riding the train
The Little Scrambler

Trevor was really tired.

My baby with grandma. He's getting so big, he's a little boy now.

Trevor loving the seats at Freedom Hall.

First rollarcoaster ride all by himself! We have pictures of him smiling once the ride started going.

Cameron's trying to hold Trevor's hand.

Cameron checking out the baby pigs.

Very serious once the ride started, look at his tongue.

Trevor wanted to get in and touch the little ducklings.
Today we went to the Kentucky State Fair. My mom came along too, which was fun. We started in the Expo center because that was where we parked. We also had the double stroller and those booth areas are so hard to get through with it once it gets busy. I was glad we did that first! We found a few neat things, the fair always has stuff you don't otherwise usually see. We had to get through quickly though as the kids didn't want to just sit in the stroller and kept escaping and running down isles. Then we went to see animals. The kids liked the animals in the cages in the expo center the best because they got to pet them. We watched a little of the horse show competition. Trevor liked sitting in the seats at Freedom Hall. He wasn't heavy enough to hold them down, so it kept flipping up, he laughed, he thought it was fun. Cameron on the other hand did not like that! He wanted it to stay down. After the horse show we went to eat lunch and then headed to the rides. Cameron was such a big boy! All the kid rides that he could do would not allow adults. He was hesitant at first, but then enjoyed handing his tickets to the person and getting on. He went on a rollarcoaster, some cars, boats, motorcycles, a spinning thing, a train, and I can't remember what else. Zach and I went on an adult rollarcoaster. It threw my neck around, I couldn't lift my head up for half the ride. I'm getting OLD!!! My neck still hurts from that ride. Trevor took a little nap during the ride part, he went on the car ride with Cameron and looked like he was about to pass out. Right after, he fell asleep in the stroller. Anyway, all in all, a great day at the fair. The weather was great, the boys were good, and we all enjoyed it. Tonight Zach and I are headed to a neighborhood pool party just for adults. We don't know what to expect, but thought we'd try it.

Trevor really thinks he should get a chance to do CPT as well. If we leave it plugged in, he thinks it's so fun to go get it and crawl on the couch to do therapy like his big brother.
The boys used to need their own chairs. Now they will sit together and watch something (at least when they are both in a good mood). Cameron likes to call Trevor his 'little buddy.'
