Things have been busy here! We just completed a week long visit from my sister, Erin. My dad was also here for about 3 days over the 4th of July. We kept ourselves busy each day it seemed like! Last weekend we went to Churchill Downs for Downs After Dark. We were in Millionaires row and it was a really nice evening! We didn't win much, but didn't lose much! Unfortunately, as we were leaving, a drunk driver was playing bumper cars and hit US!!! We are still trying to work out if he has insurance or not, but everyone was okay and it could have been worse!
Then we hung out at the house for fireworks. My friend Melinda came down to visit with us and my whole family was here. We had plenty of huge fireworks going off in the neighborhood and we did some of the smaller ones ourselves. The kids played in the pool and the backyard most of the day. It was really fun! My sister and I took the kids to the zoo one day and to Huber's Farm another day. On my sister's birthday my parents rented a boat out on Taylorsville Lake. That was a really fun day. The kids did great and LOVED the water!!!! They are like fish, we couldn't get them out! Cameron just loves jumping in the water now that he's more comfortable in the water. We should have brought a float for Trevor. He wanted to be on his own, but of course he couldn't swim, so someone had to be holding him the whole time. It gets tiring treading water for so long!! If we didn't watch him carefully, he'd be heading down the ladder without us, he was ready to go!! My sister left a couple days ago and the kids were very sad. Trevor is still walking around saying her name wondering where she is. Erin....MOVE CLOSER!!
A very sad event also happened this week. One of the mothers in my support group for CF lost her daughter. Our group really came together for support! We all attended the visitation at the same time with our husbands and also the funeral the following day. It was very hard. It is reality slapping you in the face. Many of the moms kept making sure I was alright, telling me this wouldn't be Cameron's future because meds are so much better and there will be even more in time for Cameron. I wasn't really the most sad for Cameron because I feel there truly will be a control for Cameron, this is why we need to keep fundraising constantly!!! I just felt for the mother so much. I can't even imagine! It was the most touching 'Celebration of Life' I have ever been to. Most funerals are like weddings, so cookie cutter. The same things are always said and it's just so generic. This service was officiated by someone who knew this girl and took the time to learn even more. He read directly from her bible, he had true touching stories about her. The whole thing was very personal and touching. Very sad, but very touching! I can't imagine and hope to never go through such a thing with either of my children!
Cameron goes on Tuesday for his CF Clinic check-up. Hopefully they will say he has gained some weight as he lost quite a bit when he was sick last month. I will post to let you know.
